Position Overview
The Office Assistant in the Development Office at Charleston Southern University (CSU) provides essential administrative support to the Development team. This role involves a variety of tasks, including data entry, filing, event preparation, and assisting with donor communication efforts. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication skills. This position offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in office administration, fundraising operations, and donor relations within a higher education setting.

Office Assistant
- Administrative Support: Perform general office duties such as answering phones, responding to emails, filing, photocopying, and handling mail.
- Data Entry: Maintain and update donor records in the university’s database with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Event Assistance: Assist in the preparation and coordination of development events, including logistical support, registration management, and follow-up communication.
- Donor Communication: Support the Development team in drafting and sending thank-you letters, donor updates, and other correspondence.
- Research Assistance: Conduct research on potential donors, alumni, and fundraising opportunities as directed.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Development or other team members to support the office’s daily operations.
Required Skills and Attributes
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Hours
- Flexible schedule up to 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Some evening hours may be required depending on departmental needs and student availability.
- The work schedule will be coordinated with academic, exam, and chapel commitments.
Compensation
Hourly wage, based on university student employment guidelines.
