Skills/Experience/Training Required

- Master’s degree in library science or library information science (MLS/MLIS) and one to three years of related experience. Degree candidate with successful completion of Reference coursework with library experience considered.
- Knowledge of integrated library systems (ILS), computer programs, applications and online databases. Demonstrated ability to search complex questions effectively using available databases.
- Knowledge of resources, programs, and services available to libraries with thorough knowledge in the area of reference services.
- Knowledge of current library information science principles and practices.
- Ability to project a positive public image and to provide superior customer service. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other College departments, community groups, and other libraries.
- Ability to supervise Library student employees in work tasks and functional duties.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Â
- Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc. Regular interruptions to assist library patrons.
- May spend extended periods at terminal or on telephone requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
- May be required to walk, stand, bend, reach, and lift books and materials
