Phlebotomist – Wellness Events (3-Month Assignment with Travel)
Temporary Position with Potential for Extension
The Phlebotomist plays an essential role in supporting high-quality patient care and wellness initiatives by collecting accurate specimens and ensuring a positive experience through clear, compassionate communication. This position supports both routine clinic-based services and mobile wellness events.
This is a 3-month position with the possibility of extension based on business needs. The role requires travel for wellness events lasting 1 to 5 days at a time, with all travel expenses covered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect blood and other specimens using proper techniques, labeling, and storage procedures.
- Verify patient identification and maintain accurate records in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing and ensure timely transport or processing.
- Provide patient instruction and reassurance before, during, and after blood draws.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper stock of the phlebotomy area, ensuring compliance with infection control and safety standards.
- Participate in wellness and health screening events, providing phlebotomy and basic biometric services as needed.
- Assist with documentation, data entry, and general support to the clinical team during events.
- Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail in all patient interactions.
- Adhere to HIPAA and OSHA guidelines for patient safety and data confidentiality.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong phlebotomy skills and comfort with high-volume collection settings.
- Excellent communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Proficient in using EMR systems and basic technology (Microsoft Office, etc.).
- Ability to work independently in a mobile or clinical setting.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel for short-term assignments (1–5 days).
- Ability to adapt in fast-paced environments while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program.
- Phlebotomy certification (e.g., CPT) preferred or required depending on location.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent phlebotomy experience in a clinical, hospital, or mobile setting preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel required.
