Athletics are a key component of our mission, and in advancing that mission, we are seeking a Physical Educator teacher, specifically with expertise in strength and conditioning, who is committed to leading a comprehensive Physical Education program that emphasizes developing and enhancing gross motor skills, foundational athletic skills, and age-appropriate physical skills.

A bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, or related educational field is required, with a master's degree preferred. Educators with the ability and desire to inspire and engage students with enthusiasm and the values of good sportsmanship, and who embrace the concept of whole-child education in a mission-driven, nurturing environment, are highly encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with specialized certification/s and experience in strength and conditioning. The anticipated start date for this position is August 4th, 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively support and promote the mission of Oak Hall School in all aspects of student engagement
  • Plan and creatively teach a Physical Education curriculum focused on age-appropriate skill building, cooperative games, sportsmanship, friendly competition, and the development of an appreciation for physical fitness
  • Promote a positive environment and demonstrate strong classroom management skills to create and maintain an environment that ensures high levels of learning and physical education engagement for all students
  • Inspire students to develop a passion to remain physically active
  • Assess and document each students performance/progress both formally and informally to meet the School's standards, and provide regular feedback to students and their parents
  • Coach a Junior Varsity or Varsity-level sport (Grades 6-12), in either fall, winter or spring
  • Work collaboratively with and be an active member of the PE Department, the Athletics Department, and the greater Oak Hall community
  • Serve as a mentor and advocate for your students
  • Be a role model of integrity and professionalism
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of students
  • Meet regular and predictable attendance requirements, including attending division and other school meetings, professional days, and other required events.
  • Adhere to School policies as described in the Employee Handbook and other materials
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Physical Education or similar ; alternatively, a Bachelors degree in another field with 3 years of experience coaching students may substitute
  • Teaching experience, 3 to 5 years preferred
  • Certification/s in strength and conditioning, preferred
  • Proven ability to work well as a member of a team
  • Be comfortable and adept with the effective use of technology in the learning process, as needed
  • Knowledge and understanding of various learning styles and differentiated instruction
  • Ability to inspire, engage, empower, and educate and evaluate students with vigor and creativity
  • A history of commitment to professional development and life-long learning
  • The ability to work positively and professionally with students, parents and faculty
  • A high degree of professionalism, collegiality, and personal conduct both in and outside of school
  • Ability, willingness, and judgment to communicate thoroughly, accurately, and concisely with all constituents in a school environment, both verbally and in writing
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to the vision and Mission of the School

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Works in an environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts
  • Regularly uses close and distance vision
  • May stand or walk for extended periods of time
  • Occasionally works at a desk and computer
  • Ability to demonstrate physical activities to students
  • Ability to walk, jog and run short distances
  • Ability to visually and audibly locate students under their supervision
  • Ability to actively circulate throughout the diverse campus environment
  • Works primarily in a gymnasium
  • Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, push or pull up to 60 lbs.
