Description

The Donor Relations & Events Coordinator is an essential member of Iris’s Department of Philanthropy team. They coordinate the development and implementation of special events for fundraising, marketing, and other activities of the organization. Additionally, they manage the solicitation and stewardship with corporate donors and event sponsors.

 

Essential Functions

  • Cultivate and steward corporate donors for Iris events, which includes:

    • Meeting with current and prospective corporate donors to align corporate giving priorities with Iris's sponsorship opportunities.

    • Developing and implementing proposals and supporting materials for event solicitations.

    • Identifying in-kind donors and soliciting donors for products and services related to events.

    • Providing support to the Donor & Government Relations Director in the research and solicitation of new and existing event sponsors.

  • Plan, coordinate and implement all logistics of special events of the organization, which entails:

    • Accurately maintaining event information, including sources of revenue and expenditures.

    • Accurately maintaining all Philanthropy databases associated with events.

    • Coordinating work with external and internal audiences including vendors, volunteers, staff members and donors.

    • Coordinating delivery & pick-up of materials supporting fundraising activities.

    • Assisting the Donor & Government Relations Director with special events related information for Campaign for Children Committee, any other event committees, and Board meetings.

    • Work with Marketing to design and create event marketing materials including, brochures, t-shirts, flyers, signage, programs, etc.

  • Working in conjunction with the Donor & Government Relations Director to support individual giving, which includes:

    • Meeting with current and prospective donors

    • Research and secure new sources of financial support, including new donors, local businesses, and event sponsorships.

    • Develop a strategy for a sustained base of monthly givers.

    • Provide back up to leadership in their individual and fundraiser efforts, including drafting tailored donor communications.

    • Ensure regular, personalized, and timely communication with donors and prospects.

    • Ensure timely and accurate donation recording, tracking and acknowledgement.

  • Maintain and track fundraising progress of all agency employees.

    • Coordinate staff engagement activities for agency with the help of the Employment Engagement Committee, when engagement activities overlap.

    • Assist in the representation of the agency through building tours, expo booths, mascot appearances, and other community events.

    • Occasional supervision of volunteers and other staff who may be temporarily assigned to work at a fundraising event or assist with clerical duties associated with fundraising events.

Scorecard

  • Meet monthly interaction goals for solicitations and stewardship.

  • Meet monthly revenue targets.

  • Accurately enter all data into Bloomerang within one (1) business day of pledge or interaction.

  • Participate in a minimum of one (1) monthly training opportunity and provide a summary to the team.

Qualifications

Qualifications (core competencies, Skills and Experience)

  • Excellent Communication (Verbal/Written) skills and customer service.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to represent the organization with donors as well as interface with all levels of staff while maintain flexibility, tact, and a positive attitude.

  • Relationship Management

  • Ability to bring high energy and enthusiasm to SCAN projects and events.

  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to develop and drive a plan.

  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Detailed oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and databases, ideally donor database software. Experience in Adobe Suite is preferred.

  • Strength of character, ethics, reliability, and commitment.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and use proper judgment.

Physical Demands & Expected Hours of Work

  • Ability to work within an office environment utilizing standard office equipment.

  • Requires the ability to talk, hear, listen, read, write, sit, stand, lift, pull, bend, or stoop, as necessary.

Expected Hours of Work

  • Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available between the "core" work hours of 8a.m. to 5p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.

  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required during fundraising season and for community events.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with a minimum of three years of job-related experience

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, hospitality, event management or fundraising

  • 3+ years of marketing, event coordination or fundraising or similar experience.

  • 1+ years’ experience with Bloomerang CRM, Raiser’s Edge, NXT CRM, or other CRM databases.
