BASIC FUNCTION: With general supervision, plans, organizes, and participates in occupational therapy programming to habilitate children, young adults, and adults in community-based programs. Based on assignment, therapy setting/duties may include: outpatient clinic therapy, school-based therapy and alternative education programming. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Participate in evaluations of social-emotional wellness, sensory functions, specific mental functions, muscle functions, and body structures as related to functional engagement in activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, education, play, leisure, and social participation. 
  2. Depending on assignment, performs specific therapy responsibilities to support clients in various settings including: outpatient clinic, school-based, and/or alternative education (responsibilities outlined below). 
  3. Provide skilled intervention per written plan of care utilizing client and family centered practices promoted by Occupational Therapy Practice Framework (OTPF). 
  4. Build therapeutic relationships with parents and/or guardians in order to provide coaching and training on how to incorporate activities of engagement into their child’s natural context for improved acquisition and generalization of skills. 
  5. Serve as an advocate and resource in occupational therapy to other staff, parents, family members, community partners, board members, and other parties as required. 
  6. Attend in-service presentations and professional meetings for knowledge translation. Passionately explore continuing education to uphold the standards of the profession and to provide relevant evidence-based practice. 
  7. Provide close supervision to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant(s) through regular collaboration on treatment plans, training on relevant intervention strategies, and assurance of all agency policies. 
  8. Maintain regular contact with Occupational Therapy manager to assure premier service delivery, continuity of care, and rapid resolution of client/family needs. 
  9. Complete all outcome measurements as assigned by front office or administrate staff in a timely and efficient manner. 
  10. Other job-related duties as assigned. 

SCHOOL-BASED RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Complete documentation in a timely manner in accordance with the Department of Education (DOE), the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) and state Medicaid including Evaluation Team Report (ETR), Individualized Education Program (IEP), progress reporting and plan of care documents. 
  2. Engage in therapeutic team discussion and planning for independent scheduling of caseload students following state guidelines and district preferences. 
  3. Maintain daily documentation as established per school district. Follow district specific protocols for storage of documentation and records. 
  4. Participate in team meetings/discussion for document review and future planning with essential school professionals including but not limited to: Intervention Specialist(s) (IS), Physical Therapist (PT), Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP), school psychologist, and other district representatives. 
  5. Collaborate with teachers and teaching assistants for carry-over of therapeutic interventions and to optimize tier one and tier two intervention strategies. 
  6. Maintain open and clear communication with occupational therapy manager for facilitation of positive relationships between district administration and LeafBridge administration. 

Qualifications

QUAIFICATIONS: A combination of education and experience typically represented by a master’s degree (bachelor’s degree considered based on experience) in Occupational Therapy, licensed in the state of Ohio, and certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association. Must possess the ability to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds. A minimum of one (1) to two (2) years related work experience required. Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license with no more than two (2) moving violations and have reliable daily transportation.
