The Body Shop Estimator helps ensure the overall efficiency, profitability, and reputation of our auto body shop operations by providing timely, accurate, and customer-approved estimates for repair work. He or she documents estimates and the necessary repair work according to established industry standards and insurance company regulations.

The ideal candidate has some post-secondary education or training and at least one year of dealer-level or large facility experience. Candidates must have an unrestricted driver's license and a clean driving record and a strong technical and customer service performance record. Excellent communication (bilingual) and interpersonal skills and good computer skills are required. A certification or designation in the field of automotive repair is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares estimates for repair work according to dealership, insurance company, and industry standards

  • Oversees delivery of repairs and manages customer expectations

  • Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards

  • Manages inbound phone inquiries and routes calls accordingly

  • Handles customer complaints or escalates when necessary

  • Maintains work area in a neat and organized manner

  • Follows all safety policies and procedures

  • Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Negotiate repair costs with insurance company representatives

  • Coordinate with technicians and other team members to ensure repairs are completed efficiently and correctly

  • Ensure all necessary parts are ordered for each repair project

  • Communicate effectively with customers, providing updates and information about their vehicle’s repairs

  • Complete final inspections to ensure all work is completed to high quality standards

  • Confirm payments prior to delivery

  • Actively check in and deliver vehicles with guests to explain their repairs, our warranty, and answer any questions they may have

Qualifications

  • Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication (bilingual is a plus), customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in a related field is a plus (OEM and/or I-car certifications)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and staff

  • Ability to use estimating software and related technology

  • Customer service or related experience preferred

  • Highly professional and dependable

  • Safety and customer service oriented

  • Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record

  • Able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles
