JOB SUMMARY:
To evaluate the physical and chemical properties of various window film components and constructions in order to determine their suitability for existing, new and improved window film products
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONISIBILITIES:
- Conduct in-house and outsourced accelerated ageing tests on window film components and products using QUV and Xenon Arc weatherometers, outside test panels, and other test methods. Measure and record film properties at regular intervals, interpret results, and summarize final results and conclusions in written reports.
- Assist in the development of new and improved window films by sourcing new materials, making and testing sample constructions in the laboratory, arranging and overseeing production trials, quantifying performance properties, and by establishing robust production processes.
- Analyze the properties of films and chemicals in order to assist with quality control, troubleshooting, creation of performance property data sheets, competitor film analysis, and other general purposes.
- Ensure that all laboratory equipment remains in good working order (by performing proper maintenance) and that it is calibrated on a regular basis in line with established internal and ISO requirements. Receive up to date training on equipment.
- Assist in the identification, evaluation, and qualification of alternative, new, and improved raw materials.
- Communicate with raw material suppliers on quality-related issues, and perform all necessary steps to initiate corrective actions and to validate/initiate payment of claims for defective materials.
- Generate ideas for new products/ processes.
- Visit suppliers, customers, and test laboratories in order to better understand and utilize outside resources as well as to foster good working relationships.
- Attend appropriate trade shows, seminars, workshops, and other technically-oriented industry gatherings in order to enhance knowledge base.
- Follow and support all company policies, including working in a safe manner and helping promote the importance of safety throughout the company.
- Help achieve the company’s Quality Policy goals and actively support the ISO process.
- Support Production and Sales/ Marketing on technical issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Working conditions are normal for a laboratory and a manufacturing environment. This position may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. The employee is responsible for using the proper personal protective equipment.
