JOB SUMMARY:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator responsible for implementing and maintaining the safety and environmental programs at Madico’s manufacturing facilities. This role promotes employee safety and environmental protection by ensuring compliance with all workplace policies, practices, and regulations. The ideal candidate has a strong background in and commitment to fostering a culture of safety and environmental excellence in a manufacturing or industrial setting. The EHS Coordinator must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate policy to a multidisciplinary workforce. The goal of this position is to ensure that the workplace meets all regulatory expectations and proactively supports occupational health and safety. This is a hands-on position that requires active involvement in the day-to-day activities of the manufacturing operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead in the execution of a comprehensive EHS program that meets regulatory requirements, ISO 14001 standards, organizational goals, and ensures a compliant work environment.
- Maintain the facility's environmental compliance which includes:
- Air Operation Permit compliance and reporting
- Storm Water Permit compliance and reporting
- Hazardous Chemical compliance and reporting
- Hazardous Waste compliance and reporting
- Maintain and manage safety programs in accordance with all applicable regulations.
- Conduct ongoing safety audits to ensure ongoing compliance. Proactively address potential hazards. Coach employees in safe behaviors.
- On call 24/7 to lead accident investigations and make corrective action determinations.
- Serve as the facility Emergency Response Commander.
- Manage EHS service agreements such as SDS, PPE, and First Aid management.
- Complete required health and safety permitting and record keeping.
- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
- Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations.
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure management of risks and compliance while meeting with business and operational needs.
- Conduct regular safety training sessions for existing employees and new hires.
- Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations and recommendations for their implementations.
- Establish and maintain required job safety records.
- Walk through the facility daily; maintain access to all employees.
- Prepares, analyzes, and communicates environmental and safety performance related data.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Participate in external registration and surveillance audits
- Directly support methods and practices of the IMS Process through personal compliance and visible support actions.
