As our Maintenance Technician, you’ll play a vital behind-the-scenes role ensuring that our residential campuses operate smoothly and provide a secure, comfortable environment for women and children experiencing homelessness.

This position is ideal for a hands-on technician with 1–3 years of experience who wants to use their trade skills to serve a greater purpose. You’ll join a mission-driven team that values professionalism, compassion, and excellence in every repair.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Keep our buildings safe and functional. Complete maintenance work orders promptly and with care to ensure a secure, comfortable, and efficient environment.

• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and laundry systems; keep logs and address minor repairs before they become major issues.

• Handle general repairs such as locks, doors, windows, drywall, framing, roofing, and gutters.

• Support the appearance and longevity of our buildings through painting, caulking, pressure washing, and basic exterior upkeep.

• Assist with grounds and logistics, including small landscaping projects, moving furniture or supplies, and using fleet vehicles to transport materials between locations.

• Respond to after-hours needs occasionally to maintain safety and building integrity.

Position Requirements:

• 1–3 years of hands-on experience in general building maintenance or residential repair work.

• Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry principles.

• Ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and work independently while maintaining clear communication with supervisors.

• Professional demeanor and respect for appropriate boundaries in a women’s and children’s shelter environment.

• Comfort with technology to manage work orders, send emails, and use Microsoft Office and maintenance software.

• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate fleet vehicles.

• Alignment with Atlanta Mission’s Christ-centered values and a heart to serve those in vulnerable situations.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires remaining stationary for long periods of time and to move and walk to various locations, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, reach, pull, push, bend and twist.
• Must be able to distinguish, determine and detect taste or smell
• Must be able to communicate accurate information
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50lbs
• Occasionally working from roof of a building

Environmental Job Requirements:

• Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions during events
• Moderate noise as in a business office environment
• Medium exposure risk to communicable diseases as described by OSHA
