Fisher College, a private 4-year institution is seeking one (01) adjunct instructor to teach at Public Speaking class for the Spring 2026 semester. The CM105 Public Speaking I course it will be taught from January 12, 2026, through May 8, 2026 (no Winter or Spring Break). Classes will take place on Thursday 9:00 AM- 12:00 PM or 12:30 PM- 3:30 PM. All classes are in-person at the Brockton location. Additional time is required for training, course prep, grading, and student communications.
Overview and Responsibilities:
An introductory course in communication and oral presentation skills. Students will explore the theory and process of human communication. Emphasis is placed on oral and written communication, organization of thoughts and materials, and techniques of public presentation.Â
Learning Objectives:
This course will provide students with the opportunity to:
- Demonstrate proficiency in constructing different types of presentations, i.e., to inform, to persuade, and to entertain.
- Adapt a presentation to appeal to a target audience.
- Enact the speech preparation process, i.e. choose topic, conduct research, and select appropriate supporting materials.
- Create a clearly structured message with well-developed beginning, middle, and end components.
- Make effective language choices to best convey their message.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to assess a speaker's message.
- Apply verbal and non-verbal strategies for enhancing presentation delivery
Achievement of learning outcomes will be contingent on student effort, ability and engagement.
