SUMMARY: This role is responsible for overseeing fulfillment operations and inventory management including: handling, storage, documentation and information management, inventory control and optimization, cost reduction and improvement initiatives, damaged claims, rates negotiation, internal and external audit processes and certifications for all company operations in North America and its product lines, including lumber, boxboard, pulp and sackraft (paper bags). The manager serves as a key liaison between internal business units, logistics team and external 3PL warehouse partners, ensuring alignment, transparency, and operational excellence while promoting a safe and productive work environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
- Manage fulfillment and inventory team through active supervision, coaching and resource management to support and ensure departmental goals are achieved. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that emphasizes safety, productivity, and accountability.
- Oversee warehouse and inventory operations including receiving, storing, picking, shipping, and inventory reconciliation by coordinating internal activities and partnering with 3PL providers to ensure performance standards and contractual obligations are met. Coordinate with 3PL providers to ensure their teams are informed of CMPC processes and standards, offering clarification and support as needed through the provider’s designated management.
- Develop and implement inventory control procedures such as FIFO (First In, First Out) and ABC Analysis, conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories, and use data analytics to ensure accuracy and support data driven decision making.
- Act as the primary liaison for CMPC’s business units and key stakeholders, ensuring their warehouse and inventory needs are met and providing real-time visibility into inventory and order status.
- Plan inventory, storage, and documentation processes based on Sales & Operations Planning. Coordinate arrival plans with warehouses, identify and mitigate any operational risks, and ensure timely processing and delivery. Manage strategic inventory including physical count calendars and reconciliation procedures.
- Administer warehouse and inventory budgets, validate warehouse invoices and charges, and negotiate service terms and operational protocols with storage providers and validate warehouse monthly invoices and charges.
- Drive continuous improvement through processes optimization, IT integrations, SOP development and compliance with national and international standards, internal and external audits, including FSC and PEFC certifications.
- Periodically audit warehouse conditions, infrastructure, and equipment. Ensure accurate and timely execution of system records in SAP by 3PLs and the internal back-office team. Generate and analyze reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards such as inventory accuracy, order fulfillment rates, and stock turnover. Measure the performance of 3PL warehouses based on efficiency, service levels, and risk factors. Manage and follow up damage claims.
- Special projects and assignments as needed for business.
- Responsible for creation, maintenance and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by Confidentiality and Privacy Standards, in accordance with Mass Regulations on Personal Identity Regulations and HIPAA.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain or relevant field required. Master’s degree is preferred.
- 6+ or more years of proven experience as inventory manager or similar position.
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Working knowledge of inventory management software (e.g. ERP).
- Ability to accurately track inventory, create and present reports.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. MCIPS/ISM) and Spanish language are preferred.
- Must have attention to detail and focused concentration.
- Must be able to learn new tasks and complete tasks independently.
- Must be able to make timely decisions in the context of the workflow.
- Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and responsiveness.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The decisions made in this role are limited to the responsibilities described and are subject to the continuous supervision of the Supply Chain Director. All decisions must follow standardized procedures, be agreed upon with the Director, and be supported by quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- This position is a mix of in-office and remote work, with occasional visits to logistics operation centers.
