Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is a key member of the Club’s accounting team, responsible for supporting the Controller with the daily accounting operations and ensuring financial accuracy and integrity across departments. This role requires a seasoned accounting professional with prior experience in private club accounting and proficiency in Jonas Club Software, Beanworks AP automation, and preferably ClearSky inventory management. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing the daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize the use of Jonas, Beanworks, and ClearSky systems.
- Train and support staff on accounting procedures and software best practices.
- Assist in monthly and year-end closing processes, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Assist in timely and accurate preparation of internal financial statements, supporting schedules, and reports for the Controller, CFO, General Manager, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.
- Coordinate month-end inventory counts and reconciliations with retail outlets and food and beverage. Complete analysis and reporting of month-end cost of goods sold, Club usage and on-hand inventory levels.
- Manage fixed asset tracking, depreciation, and capital expenditure reporting.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of accounting policies and internal controls.
- Work closely with department heads to support budgeting, forecasting, and expense management.
- Prepare and review sales tax filings and other regulatory reporting as required.
- Support the Controller with special projects, audit preparation, and process improvement initiatives.
- Utilize Jonas software for efficient management of the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and point-of-sale reporting.
- Oversee the use of Beanworks for invoice processing and approval workflows.
- Provide training and ongoing support to accounting staff and departmental users on financial procedures and systems.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and club policies.
- Collaborate with department heads to support financial decision-making and budget management.
- Maintain a professional and positive working relationship with staff, management, and club members.
