Description

Avivo’s Chemical and Mental Health Division provides a continuum of integrated services, including access, clinical treatment, care coordination and recovery support.  We provide services that are innovative, person centered, strength based, and outcome driven.  We strive for the highest quality of services using culturally responsive and evidence-based practices in a trauma informed environment. 

 

The Therapist, Trainee will focus on clinical behavioral health services including diagnostic assessments and clinical individual/family/couples/group therapy services.  Our model is innovative and focused on the vast and very complex needs of our clients, often requiring creative client engagement strategies. The emphasis will be mental health therapy, crisis mental health support and treatment services for severe and persistent mental illness, and services to families and couples impacted by mental health and addiction. Strong emphasis will be placed on delivery of clinical services through multidisciplinary teamwork and coordination. This position will be officed primarily at Avivo Village. 

 

The Community Based position will split time between Avivo Village and our other housing locations. Our housing locations may include American House and Kimball Court. These locations are site-based funded programs that provide housing support to those who have experienced long-term homelessness. Avivo Village is an alternative to encampments that creates a safe, secure, and service-rich environment for unsheltered individuals in hopes of securing long-term housing.  The Therapist Trainee will be responsible for engaging Residents at these locations providing individual therapy sessions, group therapy, diagnostic assessments, and crisis intervention, and clinical consultation to housing support staff.

This position will be working primarily in the afternoon to evening.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support operations of Avivo Village to ensure high quality, mission-driven services.

  • Conduct diagnostic assessments.
  • Develop treatment plans.
  • Provide clinical counseling services through therapy techniques that meet all applicable standards.
  • Upon assessment, ensure clients in need of medical care, psychiatric care and/or medication management receive timely access to needed resources and services (internally or externally).
  • Assess individual’s stability and level of service need in the recovery process. Assess individual needs and make appropriate referral and service coordination for community-based services.
  • Complete crisis assessments and plans.
  • Assist in the implementation of formal program policies and procedures in collaboration with leadership team.
  • Coordinate care with Avivo Village staff and/or external providers as needed.
  • Offer trainings to Avivo Village staff to increase knowledge regarding mental health.
  • Manage private and confidential client information per regulatory requirements.
  • Meet weekly for clinical consultation with Mental Health Clinic team and as needed with Avivo Village staff.
  • Ensure record keeping for billing meets DHS requirements and remains in compliance.
  • Maintain assigned number of billable hours on a monthly basis as determined by the Mental Health Clinic director. Work closely with other therapists to ensure the Mental Health Clinic meets billable hour goals.
  • Receive ongoing training with the Mental Health Clinic and the Avivo Village staff on best practices and evidenced-based therapy.
  • Support, foster and ensure intra-divisional collaboration to maximize participant access to Avivo’s programs and services.
  • Employ a social justice minded approach to activity planning for participants.
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with community partners.
  • Represent program area services at various community meetings and events.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Education: Master's degree in a mental health discipline is required, and you must be on a clinical licensure track (LPCC, LMFT, LICSW).
  • Clinical supervision provided.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years in the provision of direct services to individuals in a behavioral health setting/role. 
  • Experience with and/or commitment to working in a diverse, continuum of services in a fast-paced, growing organization.
  • Experience managing compliance with licensing and certification requirements pertaining to the delivery of government contracted fees for service and behavioral health professionals.
  • Experience with and/or a demonstrated commitment to developing and delivering culturally responsive harm reduction, trauma informed services.
  • Experience with electronic health records.
  • Ability to travel to various community sites and settings for regular program activities, meetings and community events.

 

Desirable

  • 1 year of professional experience in a community mental health setting preferred.
  • Experience with programs serving individuals with dual diagnoses who have a history of long-term homelessness.
