Position Overview

Empire Office is seeking a talented Designer to join our team in Tampa, FL. In this role, you’ll provide design services for our dealership clients—including programming, space planning, furniture typicals, finish selections, and presentation deliverables. You will work closely with our sales team and clients to bring creative workplace solutions to life, while ensuring functionality, accuracy, and brand alignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create drawings and specifications in CET Designer (including typicals, space plans, 3D renderings)
  • Revise drawings and specs based on client feedback and project updates
  • Prepare detailed installation drawings and support documentation
  • Maintain regular communication with the Director of Design on project status
  • Collaborate closely with the sales team and sales support to ensure accuracy in drawings, quotes, and specifications
  • Assist with finish selections and create digital sample boards
  • Conduct spec checks on other team members' work as needed
  • Meet with clients (in person or virtually) to understand their needs, goals, and budget
  • Identify areas requiring field verification; gather actual dimensions and integrate into final plans
  • Inventory existing furniture and incorporate into new layouts where applicable
  • Track and maintain internal reporting systems (e.g., time sheets, project files)
  • Follow internal standards for deliverables, organization, and deadlines
  • Participate in industry events and ongoing product/skills training
  • Stay current on design trends, codes, and product updates

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of dealership experience in commercial contract furniture design preferred
  • Proficient in CET Designer, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiar with a wide range of contract furniture lines; Steelcase experience is a plus
  • Understanding of building codes, ADA guidelines, and relevant safety/electrical/fire codes
  • Comfortable visiting job sites for field measurements and inventories
  • Strong creative thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and follow-through capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills; comfortable interacting with clients, designers, architects, and contractors
  • Collaborative team player who’s flexible and willing to support team deadlines as needed
