KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Building Engineer Associate full-time employee shall be appointed by the Director of Facilities and shall be directly accountable to the Building Maintenance Engineer. This role supports the maintenance and operation of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general facility repairs. It involves assisting with preventive maintenance, responding to service requests, and ensuring the property remains safe and well-maintained.

The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in performing general maintenance on all air handlers, such as changing air filters, inspecting VFDs, inspecting damper operation, and greasing if required.
  • Assist in performing general maintenance and inspection of the boiler room, boilers, hot water heaters, changing filters and inspection of MAUs.
  • Assist in performing general maintenance of chillers by cleaning cooling coils, master resets, and inspections.
  • Have knowledge or be able to learn HVAC maintenance for a commercial building, including: scheduling, setting temperature set-points, managing load-sheds, and general maintenance of the building's Tridium automation system.
  • Assist in maintaining the building's plumbing systems, such as drain maintenance, water closets, urinals, sinks, and flush valves.
  • Assist in performing and maintaining the building’s roof by sealing cracks and picking up roof debris.
  •  Assist in maintaining our commercial kitchens and their associated equipment.
  • Assist with maintenance/repair of interior and exterior doors.
  • Manage electrical, natural gas and water utility systems.
  • Elevator cars and systems maintenance
  • Provide general and preventative maintenance for bathroom drains, kitchen drains, and drinking fountains.
  • Help maintain all classrooms, offices, corridors, worship spaces, common areas, and retail centers regarding construction, painting, office furniture maintenance, worship center chair maintenance, etc.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of building maintenance requests assigned to the department through our ticketing request system.
  • Assisting in snow removal operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

PROFESSIONAL AND SPIRITUAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Educational requirements: High School Diploma. 
  • Experience required: 3-5 years of relevant custodial and supervisory experience.
  • Ability to communicate bilingually a plus, not required (Spanish).
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven background of exceptional customer service; can serve staff & congregation with respect.
  • Demonstrates a willingness and capability to learn the intricacies of maintaining a large facility.
  • Exhibits a meaningful and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, as evidenced by the manifestation of the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
  • Exhibits a lifestyle appropriate to a person in public Christian ministry by conducting life with the utmost integrity in all situations.
  • Has a commitment to personal and active participation in the fulfillment of the Great Commission (Matthew 28: 18-20).
