Position Description
Reporting to the Controller and working closely with the Accounting Assistant, the Staff Accountant will be an integral part of the Finance team for the Museum. The position will be responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, accurately recording transactions, accruals, bookkeeping and tracking grants. Staff Accountant and Analyst supports the Controller in monthly close, prepares financial analysis and reporting on a quarterly basis, and performs other duties as assigned.
The Museum is in the process of switching accounting systems from Traverse to NetSuite and uses Altru and XTrulink for the Museum’s earned income and tracking our contributed revenue.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Works independently on routine and assigned bookkeeping and accounting tasks.
- Compiles all accounts receivable, recording transactions, coding revenue and expenses and preparing bi-monthly payments of invoices.
- Processes all accounts payable in accordance with NBM’s accounting policy.
- Process earned income and contributed revenue, ensuring accurate reporting.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Supporting the Development Department in processing, tracking, and reporting grant and foundation contributed revenue.
- Data entry: Ensuring records and data moved from Traverse to NetSuite are accurate and complete.
- Financial Analysis: Interprets cash flow, provides strategic insights, and delivers data quarterly and upon request to help drive critical business decisions.
- Leverage accounting software and other IT systems to effectively perform duties.
- Delivers with timelines, accuracy, completeness, and effectively, to the highest ethical standards, and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles for non-profit entities.
