Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate General Counsel with 1–2 years of experience to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a foundational background in transactional law, corporate compliance, and construction law, with working knowledge of subcontractor agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and construction licensing specifically within the telecommunications infrastructure industry. This role is ideal for a junior attorney seeking to deepen their in-house legal experience in a fast-paced, construction-focused environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of transactional documents, including subcontractor agreements, service agreements, vendor contracts, and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Provide legal counsel on matters involving construction law, including project documentation, lien laws, risk allocation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in maintaining corporate compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, including monitoring changes in regulations affecting the construction industry.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on the enforcement and drafting of non-compete, non-solicitation, and confidentiality agreements.
  • Support licensing and registration activities across multiple jurisdictions for construction operations.
  • Collaborate with external counsel on litigation and regulatory issues as needed.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on relevant legal topics.
  • Help develop and implement internal legal policies, contract templates, and compliance procedures.
  • Ensure confidentiality and sensitivity of data when handling contract records and information.
  • Utilize advanced Microsoft Office applications, Adobe, SharePoint, and data analysis tools such as Projects or Vizio. Experience with DOCK 365 is preferred.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal departments such as operations, risk, and human resources to ensure seamless communication and process compliance.
  • Stay current with industry practices, public and private contract processes, and legal department procedures.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of subcontractor agreements, construction-related regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
  • Familiarity with employment restrictive covenants (e.g., non-competes, non-solicitation clauses).
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong understanding of office procedures, compliance requirements, and records management.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe, SharePoint, and experience with workflow or data analysis tools like Microsoft Projects or Visio.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience with DOCK 365 contract management software is preferred.

 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in any state in the United States
  • 1–2 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with a focus on transactional, corporate, or construction law (in-house or law firm experience).
  • Experience working in or with the construction industry preferred
  • Knowledge of multistate contractor licensing and regulatory frameworks preferred
  • Prior in-house legal experience or secondment with a corporate legal department preferred

 

Supervisory Requirements:

This position does not have supervisory requirements

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional after-hours work may be required to meet deadlines or manage crisis situations

 

Physical Demands:

Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines

Occasionally required to lift or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds

Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug/alcohol testing and participate in random testing program

Position requires working indoors in a professional office atmosphere

Must possess valid driver’s license

 
Travel: 

Up to 10% of travel expected for this position
