STARTING WAGE: Dental Assistant 121 $26.71; Dental Assistant Trainee 117 $22.70 (step increments)
REPORTS TO: Lead Dental Assistant
LOCATION: Keller
Basic Functions: The Dental Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Lead Dental Assistant/Dental Director. The individual is qualified under the WACMHC Dental Assistant training program or another accredited program. The incumbent will perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties, and often work chairside as dentists/hygienists examine and treat patients. Assists the Dental Hygienist and Dentist(s) in facilitating dental clinics. The incumbent must be qualified and well-versed in relevant matters, be caring, communicative, and experienced in documenting treatment plans. The individual will be skilled with various tools and procedures needed to assist patients. This position is to contribute to the maintenance of a client’s dental health delivering quality services to our reservation. Trainee applicants will complete an approved training plan within the first year of employment and follow LRCHC Training/Education Reimbursement Agreement plan.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to meet and greet patients in a friendly, professional demeanor. Â
- Responsible for preparing treatment rooms/space/equipment for patients and dental professionals.
- Ensures accurate patient chart/dental/medical histories are provided for each patient visit.
- Ensures that dental tools and all other equipment are available for the dental professionals at the time of patient visit. Â
- Responsible for documentation or the checkup and the treatment plan(s).
- Follows sanitation guidelines and sterilizes dental instruments, equipment and facilities.
- Take dental x-rays.
- Performs all duties using universal precautions and appropriate protective equipment as required to reduce exposure to infection, bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials.
- Knowledge of dental terminology is preferred.
