Job Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor (Days) is responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations during the day shift in a fast-paced food manufacturing plant. This role ensures that all machinery, equipment, and facility systems operate effectively and efficiently, minimizing downtime and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The supervisor will lead a team of maintenance technicians, troubleshoot equipment issues, and implement preventive maintenance schedules to support production goals and maintain a safe working environment. Hours are 5:00 am to 2:00 pm Monday through Friday schedule. Hours may vary due to business need.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of a team of maintenance technicians during the night shift.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to maintenance staff to ensure high standards of performance and safety.
- Assign tasks based on urgency and technician skill level, and monitor the progress of ongoing work.
- Ensure that all work is conducted according to plant safety protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, continuous improvement, and adherence to plant policies.
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Oversee the repair and troubleshooting of machinery and equipment breakdowns in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.
- Perform root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures and develop corrective actions to prevent future issues.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are properly documented, including work orders, repair history, and parts usage.
- Lead the execution of preventive maintenance schedules to ensure equipment is serviced regularly and is in optimal working condition.
Preventive Maintenance & Planning:
- Monitor and track the progress of the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program, ensuring scheduled PMs are completed as planned.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Planner to ensure adequate spare parts are stocked for anticipated maintenance needs.
- Participate in maintenance planning meetings and assist with scheduling maintenance activities to minimize disruptions to production.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with OSHA regulations, food safety standards, and environmental policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits of maintenance areas, ensuring proper use of PPE and adherence to lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Investigate and report accidents, near-misses, and safety hazards within the maintenance department, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
