Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Procurement, the Sourcing Manager and will have the opportunity to help create and shape the future of Strategic Sourcing & Commodity Management activities at States Manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in Sourcing & Commodity Management within a manufacturing environment, with a track record of process creation & continuous improvement.  Scope includes strategic sourcing, commodity management, cost reduction, contract negotiations, and supplier performance management.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks in the supply chain, ensuring business continuity and resilience
  • Identify, assess, and onboard new suppliers, while maintaining strong relationships with existing suppliers
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions, including pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules
  • Continuously evaluate market trends, conduct cost analyses, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising product/service quality
  • Support new projects by selecting suppliers for key items and make “at risk” purchasing decisions on long lead time components to ensure project execution meets the customer requirements
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and interpret complex data
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to represent States Manufacturing effectively by interfacing with and influencing experienced business leaders
  • Architect the future state of the Sourcing team, including organizational structure and roles & responsibilities
  • Be an innovator, idea maker, and change agent for process improvement
  • Some travel will be required, between 10 - 20%. 

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Sourcing role within the manufacturing industry.  Previous experience within the electrical or switchgear industry is a plus.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain management and procurement best practices.
  • Thrives in an environment with a rapid pace of change, complexity, and within a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in using sourcing and procurement software tools
