Description

Bullis School is seeking an energetic and creative individual for the exciting new role of Brand Narrative Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for capturing and sharing the vibrant student experience—especially in Athletics, the Arts, and everyday campus life. With a schedule designed for afternoon and evening coverage, this role documents meaningful moments as they happen, creating visual content that highlights student growth, collaboration, and community spirit. Through timely storytelling and a strong sense of narrative, the Brand Narrative Specialist helps bring the Bullis experience to life across digital platforms

 

This is a 10-month position, August - June. The hours generally are Monday- Friday 12:00-8:00 pm throughout the school year, with flexibility for evening and weekend events.

 

Duties & Qualifications

Essential Functions

 

Daily Campus Storytelling

  • Document and share moments of connection, creativity, and excellence—particularly during after-school practices, rehearsals, performances, and games.
  • Build relationships with coaches, arts faculty, and student leaders to tell authentic and diverse stories across divisions.
  • Serve as a visible presence during key after-school hours to capture unplanned or spontaneous student interactions.
     

Multimedia Capture & Editing

  • Photograph and record video of events, performances, and informal moments that highlight the Bullis experience.
  • Edit short-form videos and photo stories for quick social turnaround, emphasizing tone and narrative over technical polish.
  • Maintain a curated archive of evergreen visual assets from student life for future use.
     

Arts & Athletics Social Media Stewardship

  • Manage Bullis Arts and Athletics Instagram and Facebook accounts (and others as applicable).
  • Work with coaches, program leaders, and students to co-create content that reflects the energy, values, and excellence of Bullis programs.
  • Track engagement metrics to inform tone, frequency, and style of posts.
     

Performance Capture

  • Operate or train students to use a remote-controlled multi-camera system for major Arts performances.
  • Ensure quality, consistency, and archival preservation of these recordings for institutional and family use.
     

Writing & Editing

  • Light copywriting support: write captions, summaries, or student-centered spotlight posts.
  • Proof and polish content created by others, ensuring clarity, tone, and alignment with Bullis values.
     

Collaborative Engagement

  • Partner with Communications colleagues, Arts and Athletics departments, and student groups to identify key events and stories.
  • Be responsive and proactive in offering creative ideas for how to bring the Bullis experience to life visually and narratively.
     

Education and Experience

    

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years experience in storytelling roles focused on photography, social media, or short-form video
  • Skilled with DSLR or mirrorless camera systems and basic audio/video gear
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite—especially Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop
  • Strong understanding of best practices with Instagram, Facebook, X, and short-form video platforms
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for elevating student voices and experiences
  • Comfortable working independently in dynamic, evening-heavy environments

 

Compensation and benefits are competitive, with an hourly rate of $30 - $35
