Position Summary:
The PHL Peer Support Counselor will provide outreach services to unsheltered individuals at various locations within a 10-mile radius, including Philadelphia Airport and community shelters. This position is crucial in engaging clients, addressing their urgent needs, and offering follow-up care while supporting SELF's mission to motivate and empower individuals toward self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engagement & Support:
- Engage individuals experiencing homelessness in surrounding locations such as the airport, and in other designated areas.
- Assess needs, offer relevant services (e.g., shelter placement, recovery programs), and document interactions in required databases.
- Provide emotional support and referrals to appropriate resources (e.g., treatment centers, social services).
- Transport clients to shelters, clinics, and other service facilities as needed.
PHL Outreach & Training Coordination:
- Collaborate with airport staff and other agencies to deliver de-escalation and trauma-informed care training.
- Ensure outreach contact methods are accessible to the community and airport staff.
- Participate in ongoing training and performance evaluations to maintain high service standards.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain travel logs, report vehicle maintenance needs, and ensure operational equipment.
- Record accurate client information (e.g., name, DOB) and update records twice a month.
- Participate in staff meetings, departmental programs, and professional development sessions.
