Description

An Accounting Clerk I at Smith and Loveless supports the financial team in the execution of a wide range of priorities in varying degrees of complexity related to account payables, receivables and invoicing for the company and our clients.

Qualifications

Skills/Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, associate’s degree at an accredited college or some college courses preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 1-year accounting or related experience a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.  Good communication skills, both written and verbal.  Skills/Requirements

Job duties

  • Enter payable invoices and credits accurately for three companies. Analyze documents for approval, completeness and accuracy. Take the initiative to apply appropriate measures when required to complete processing invoices.
  • A/P vendor communication (i.e. inquiries and problem resolution). Address and resolve issues relating to invoices, receivers, and supplier statements. This may require communication with the Smith and Loveless purchasing department.
  • A/P entry of ACH manual checks for payment.
  • Set up new vendors in Avante and gather required backup, i.e. W-9, 1099 information, etc.
  • Maintain and balance all assigned A/P registers and general ledger accounts and make corresponding journal entries.
  • Print A/R invoices first thing in the morning and e-mail them to customers on a daily basis.
  • Maintain the Sales Tax Exemption spreadsheet.
  • Backup for entering daily A/R Cash Receipts.
  • Print off reports from credit card processing company.
  • Timely entry of month-end journal entries.
  • Assist in preparing previous year’s files for transfer to storage.
  • Filing and mail responsibilities, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Keep work area neat and clean.
