As a School Bus Driver Trainee, you will be trained in-house to become a full-time member of our driving team, out on the educational front lines where it will be your job to safely transport students, exceed customer expectations, and ensure routes are operated on time.  Successful drivers put safety first, are reliable, can succeed in a changing environment and are ready to work!

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe and reliable transportation of students; including all duties connected to operating a school bus per all applicable client district policies & state/federal laws
  • Ability to manage and maintain all students on the bus in a calm and safe manner
  • Report to duty on time and maintain route on time but in a safe manner
  • Physically assist passengers in evacuation of the vehicle in case of emergency
  • Inform all appropriate personnel of problems/procedures/incidents per Company/District policy
  • Keep the interior of the assigned vehicle clean and presentable
  • Present a neat and professional personal appearance at all times
  • Completes all required paperwork (including route change sheets, timecards, vehicle repair requests)
  • Maintain a professional attitude with parents, students, other staff members, fellow employees, supervisors, customers, and passengers while always promoting company goodwill
  • Safely and efficiently utilizes vehicle equipment, including wheelchair lifts, radios and emergency equipment

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Certifications/Licenses:
    • Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License
    • Passenger, School Bus, and Air Brake Endorsements
  • Age: Minimum 21 years of age
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required

 

 

Position Requirements

  • Ability to take and pass Continuing Education Class 
  • Ability to tolerate stressful situations
  • Able to understand and have empathy for children and persons with disability
  • Extensive knowledge of traffic rules and regulations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate and navigate a full-size or special-need school bus
  • Ability to effectively operate a GPS
  • Ability to work outside in various climates and weather conditions
  • Must be reliable, and capable of working a flexible schedule
  • Must practice defensive driving at all times and avoid vehicular and industrial accidents by practicing safe driving and work habits.
  • Conduct all pre-trip and post-trip inspections as required.
  • Proficient in English sufficient enough to read road signs and communicate with personnel

 

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • $15 per hour during training, $25 per hour after training
  • 6-hour workday guarantee
