We are seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Database Engineer to join our team supporting mission-critical data environments. In this role you will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and optimizing Oracle database schemas, packages, procedures, functions and other PL/SQL components. You will also work within an ETL/data-warehousing context — leveraging tools such as Qlik Replicate (or similar) and contributing to efficient data movement, transformation and analytical readiness. The ideal candidate has hands-on Oracle architecture experience, strong PL/SQL skills, experience with data-warehouse environments, and a proven ability to work in secure/distributed settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain Oracle database schemas to support both transactional (OLTP) and analytical/data-warehouse workloads.
- Write, review, test and deploy PL/SQL: procedures, functions, packages, triggers, bulk operations, set‐based logic and data cleansing routines.
- Optimize queries, implement indexing strategies, partitioning and other performance-tuning measures to ensure database efficiency, reliability and scalability.
- Lead and support ETL/data-warehousing operations: coordinate data ingestion, transformation, replication and loading workflows using tools like Qlik Replicate (or equivalent), ensuring data accuracy and timeliness.
- Collaborate closely with data modelers, application developers, BI/data-warehouse teams, and DevOps/CICD pipelines to deliver database solutions aligned with business and technical needs.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve production issues; define and implement database monitoring, alerting and supportability practices.
- Contribute to database architecture reviews, legacy code refactoring, reusable component development, and technical best-practices.
- Maintain documentation of database objects, data flows, versioning, change-controls and deploy procedures, compliant with security and governance standards.
- Because of the secure / DoW‐adjacent / CAC environment, adhere to strict access controls, audit logging, change-management and other relevant compliance protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Current, active SECRET clearance and CAC (Common Access Card).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 6–8 years of Oracle database development/engineering experience in production environments.
- Strong expertise in Oracle (preferably 12c/18c/19c or higher) including schema design, PL/SQL development, performance tuning, and a working understanding of Oracle internals.
- Significant experience creating and maintaining Oracle packages, functions, procedures, triggers, bulk data operations.
- Solid experience with ETL / data‐warehousing environments — data ingestion, replication, transformation, loading, as well as experience with tools like Qlik Replicate (or similar) and data-warehouse schemas (star/snowflake, fact/dimension).
- Strong SQL skills (analytical queries, complex joins/aggregations, set-based logic, window functions) and ability to optimize large data sets and high-volume operations.
- Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams: DBAs, developers, architects, BI/data-warehouse engineers.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills: ability to present technical materials to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable working remotely, managing priorities independently, and representing database engineering as the senior expert in the team.
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), cloud-based database services (e.g., Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS/Aurora, GCP) or hybrid on-prem/cloud architectures.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for database deployments (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Liquibase/Flyway).
- Knowledge of data-governance, metadata management, data-lineage and observability tools.
- Experience supporting U.S. Government/DoW‐contracting environments with compliance (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP, IRAP) or similar security clearances.
What We Offer
- Fully remote work-arrangement (with preference for candidates in or near the Tysons, VA area).
- A challenging, high-visibility role working with large-scale, secure data systems.
- Opportunity to lead database engineering within a fast‐growing environment.
Benefits
- Medical, Dental and Vision Coverage
- 401 (k) Matching
