JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Quality Assurance (QA) will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality assurance protocols and systems to ensure our ice cream products exceed both internal and external safety and quality standards. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that Brothers Desserts consistently delivers delicious and safe products that our customers love.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive QA system across the manufacturing process.
  • Regularly review and update company quality standards in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Oversee routine product testing and random sampling to ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with the R&D department on new product testing.
  • Lead and mentor the QA team, ensuring their continuous professional development.
  • Provide training to the manufacturing and production teams on best practices and quality standards.
  • Assess and qualify vendors and suppliers, ensuring their practices meet our quality standards.
  • Regularly review vendor and supplier performance against QA benchmarks.
  • Stay abreast of local, state, and federal food safety regulations and ensure all company practices are in compliance (GMP’s, SQF, Food Safety, HACCP, Sanitation Practices etc..).
  • Lead and coordinate with regulatory bodies during audits and inspections.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the QA department.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive quality enhancements across all processes.
  • Lead investigations into any product quality issues, customer complaints, or recalls.
  • Implement corrective actions and preventative measures in response to identified issues.

Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and external partners.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in quality assurance, with a focus on ice cream or frozen dessert manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of dairy science, food chemistry, and food processing technologies.
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations and other relevant food safety standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team of QA Managers, Food scientists and Techs.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Certification in Quality Management or similar credentials is a plus.
