Part-time Head Strength and Conditioning Coach

Tower Hill School is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Head Strength and Conditioning Coach from November 2025 through June 2026 to lead evidence-based programming designed to maximize athletic performance, prevent injury, and develop lifelong habits of fitness and mindful nutrition.This is a part-time position scheduled for the hours between 2pm and 6pm on days when school is in session. The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach will report to the Director of Athletics, and work closely with our Director of Physical Health, Assistant Director of Athletics, Head Coaches, and Athletic Trainers.

 

With a rich 106-year athletic history, over 400 Tower Hill students in grades 7-12 compete on 60 interscholastic sports teams across 16 sports. Tower Hill’s athletic program is a multi-sport program in which students can play on teams in each athletic season. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement training programs to improve students’ strength, speed, agility and overall athleticism using evidence-based best practices. 
  • Meet with head program coaches to discuss sport and player specific needs and design strength and conditioning programs accordingly.
  • Schedule team-based strength and conditioning workouts for middle school and upper school teams in cooperation with the head coach of each specific sport between the hours of 2:00pm and 6:00pm on school days.
  • Supervise and monitor student-athletes while using the weight room and strength and conditioning equipment.
  • Teach athletes best practices, sound fundamentals, and proper techniques for using free weights and other strength and conditioning training equipment.
  • Educate athletes and coaches on mindful, safe, and healthy nutrition and supplementation.
  • Work in cooperation with athletic training staff regarding injury prevention, injury recovery, and individual athletes’ return to play milestones.
  • Conduct pre/post season testing for athletes and teams to monitor athlete progress during their playing seasons and throughout the year.
  • Advise coaches on pre-game and pre-practice warm-up protocols as well as post-activity cooldowns.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, equipment and programming for middle and upper school athletes.
  • Motivate and connect with athletes across all levels of experience, interest, and abilities.
  • Maintain an orderly and clean environment in the weight room that is consistent with established protocols and expectations of the school.
  • Keep inventory of equipment and supplies in the weight room.
  • Update the Athletic Director on equipment and supply needs and/or upgrades recommended to provide Tower Hill athletes with the best possible strength training experience available.
  • Design dynamic, energizing summer conditioning programs that prepare all student athletes for their upcoming seasons. 
  • Participate and present during coaches meetings in coordination with the athletic administration.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings as requested by the school administrators, and attend optional meetings as needed for the purposes of athletics.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Character Traits:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Athletic Training, or other related field 
  • Current National Strength & Conditioning Association certification required. USA Weightlifting certification desired
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with adolescent athletes
  • Experience working in co-ed school-based athletic programs preferred
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • Knowledge and proficiency working in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite
  • Must be able to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and maintaining professionalism at all times
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands and working conditions including lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping
