Job Description:
First Urology is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and highly motivated Medical Assistant for the Jeffersonville office location. Must be able to multi-task and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced clinical setting. Will be supporting licensed medical staff in providing excellent care and ensuring the comfort, safety, and overall well-being of our patients. Current Medical Assistants, MA students, and nursing PCAs are encouraged to apply. Certification is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties (may include, but not limited to):
- Taking medical histories
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Preparing patients for examinations
- Assisting the clinical team during examinations
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
- Performing basic laboratory tests and diagnostics
- Instructing patients about medication and special diets
- Preparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse, nurse practitioner or physician assistant)
- Transmitting prescription refills as directed
- Phlebotomy
- Taking electrocardiograms
Administrative Duties (may include, but not limited to):
- Utilizing EMR system
- Answering telephones
- Welcoming patients
- Updating and filing patient medical records
- Filling out insurance forms
- Scheduling appointments
- Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services
- Handling different types of correspondence
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Dayshift)
Required Qualifications:
- Medical Terminology (required)
- Vital Signs (Required)
- Current BLS Certification (Required)
- Experience utilizing an EMR system (required)
- One or more years of experience in an outpatient clinical or medical practice (preferred)
- Experience Collecting lab Specimens (preferred)
- Phlebotomy (Preferred)
- Internship or Externship as a Medical Student (Preferred)
- Current Certification from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or (RMA) Certification, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) (preferred)
