General Summary of Duties

Christie Clinic's department of Cardiology is seeking a full-time RN at the University clinic from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements. 

Duties include the provision of professional nursing care for clinical patients following established standards and practices.

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, evidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or seminars with a certificate and/or CEU’s, CPR/BLS, and possession of an Illinois State RN license is required. Practical nursing experience is preferred.

JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with nursing standards and as directed by provider. 

  • Prepare equipment and aid provider during treatment, examination and/or patient testing. 

  • Observe, record, and report patient conditions and reaction to medication and/or treatment, to provider. 

  • Act as a liaison between the patient and provider.

  • Act as liaison and care coordinator between Christie Clinic Department of Cardiology and other Christie Clinic departments and/or external facilities.

  • Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, lifestyle and dietary modifications, diagnostic testing and procedures, diagnostic test results, and other topics, as needed.

  • Perform and document patient triage using nursing assessment skills and report findings to providers.

  • Demonstrate the ability to complete documentation of patient care and interactions, referrals, and tasks as assigned.

  • Respond, assess, and intervene in the event a patient, team member, or visitor becomes clinically unstable. 

  • Participate in the Nurse Alert response process.

  • Place peripheral IVs.

  • Perform EKGs

  • Apply event recorders or other cardiac diagnostic devices, as needed.

  • Perform related work as required.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing

  • Evidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or seminars with a certificate and/ or CEU’s

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Practical nursing experience       

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE: 

  • Valid state license to practice practical nursing

  • CPR Certification
