JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients. Review patient records.
- Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
- Perform a complete and/or focused physical exam and record findings. Establish presumptive diagnosis if needed.
- Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
- Administer injections, immunizations and/or oral medications. Suture wounds. Prepare written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.
- Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Instruct patient and family regarding medication and treatment instructions. Provide patient education.
- Assist Physicians by recording patient progress notes, issuing diagnostic orders and transcribing orders.
- Assist Physicians with hospital rounding and procedures.
- Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.
- Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
- Provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
- Perform related work as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a health care related field
- Successful completion of a post basic Physician Assistants program
- Successful completion of the Physician Assistants exam provided by the National Commission on the certification of Physician Assistants
OR
- Current Illinois state Advanced Practice Nurse Certified Nurse Practitioner license
- Evidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or seminars with a certificate and/or CEU

- DEA Licensure
- Certification as a Physician Assistant
- Illinois State controlled substance license
- CPR Certification
- ACLS certification
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.Â
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical setting and requires frequent exposure to sharp objects, communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Requirements may include working irregular hours.
