NURSE PRACTITIONER
JOB DUTIES:Â (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)

Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients. Review patient records.

Perform physical examinations and preventative health measures.

Order, interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests to create an educated diagnosis for the patient.

Communicate diagnosis with Physician to formulate a medical plan of action for the patient.

Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention.
-
Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
-
Instruct patient and family regarding medication and treatment instructions. Provide patient education
-
Prescribe or recommend prescription medications or other forms of treatment to treat patient illness or injury.

Communicate effectively with team members and other providers.
-
Perform related work as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
-
Successful completion of a post basic advanced practice formal education program
-
Successful completions of all other requirements to practice as a Nurse Practitioner

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting, up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids, and other waste common to a health care environment. Ionizing radiation and medicinal preparations are also common. Requirements may include working irregular hours.   Â

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)

Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients. Review patient records.

Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.

Perform a complete and/or focused physical exam and record findings. Establish presumptive diagnosis if needed.

Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.

Administer injections, immunizations and/or oral medications, as needed.Â

Prepare prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.
-
Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention.
-
Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
-
Instruct patient and family regarding medication and treatment instructions. Provide patient education.

Assist physician by recording patient progress notes, issuing diagnostic orders, and transcribing orders.
-
Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.
-
Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
-
Communicate effectively with providers and staff.
-
Provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
-
Perform related work as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in a health care related field

Successful completion of a post basic Physician Assistants program
-
Successful completion of the Physician Assistants exam provided by the National Commission on the certification of Physician Assistants
-
Evidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or seminars with a certificate and/or CEU
