Create a calm, informed, dependable, and forward moving clinical environment supporting expert Oncology provider service to Hematology and Oncology patients.

Prepare in advance for provider office visits including chart review, care coordination, result integration, and provider note preparation.

Directly support medical practice flow by providing nursing care within the patient exam room.
-
Accurately reconcile medications.
-
Prepare and pend prescriptions for providers.
-
Document patient concerns.
-
Independently triage patient concerns presenting through in person interactions, portal messages, and telephone encounters. Communicate needs effectively to provider where applicable. Ensure timely and proper follow-up is completed with patient.

Act as a liaison between the patient and provider regarding any complaints, concerns, etc.

As directed by provider, communicate test results, clinical answers and next steps to patients and family members.

When appropriate, enter EMR orders (verbal and protocol based)

Oversee referred testing including genomic/molecular profile testing (NeoGenomics, Mayo Labs, Exact Sciences, Natera, Foundation One, etc)

Surveillance the completion of oncology provider orders performed in other Christie departments and external referral entities.

Administer prescribed office-based injectable medications and treatment in accordance with nursing standards and as directed by provider.Â

Prepare patient, environment, equipment and aid provider during treatment, examination and/or testing of the patient. (Bone Marrow)

Document timely and accurately within the EMR.

Demonstrate excellent nursing skill within a team- based experience. Co-create wins for the patient, the provider, and other team members.

Ensure that provider is supported through advance preparation of Tumor Board notes and nurse attendance at Tumor Board.

Prevent, Anticipate, Identify, and Solve issues on behalf of the patient and practice. Where needed, provide real-time escalation of issues to Clinical Manager.

Regularly participate in daily department huddle to create improvement in department workflows and results achieved.
COORDINATOR JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)

Maintain provider schedules including accurate working hour and patient appointments to maximize patient and departmental flow.

Manage the inbound Hem-Onc Consultation Workque (WQ) and distribute patients per guidelines.

Oversee the External Hem Onc Referral WQ performance by team members.
-
Interview, hire, develop, and retain team members.
-
Mature the Christie Management System. Daily-Weekly-Monthly.
-
Lead team in daily Safety focus using the Christie Safety System.
-
Investigate and resolve patient complaints.
-
Investigate and resolve provider concerns.
-
Facilitate connections between clinical and support departments throughout the organization.
-
Create annual budget in partnership with Clinical Manager.
-
Monitor performance against budget monthly.
-
Develop, record, and communicate department workflows.Â
-
Surveillance performance of standard work to optimize results created.
-
Optimize practice efficiency and effectiveness.
-
Prevent department distractions and ensure team focus on patient-provider needs.
-
Oversee all operational functions of the office practice.
-
Perform related work as required.
-
Provide timely recognition, feedback, and coaching of team members.
-
Utilize disciplinary process when indicated.
-
Maintain needed manpower for clinic duties through coordination and approval of team member time off requests.
-
Time clock management/timecard processing to support Payroll.
-
Review any charge discrepancies and participate in defending claims in denial. Review and write off with Clinical Manager before authorizing organization action.
-
Represent Hematology Oncology as the front-line leader- Academy of EDE, Coordinator Meetings, organization wide initiatives.
-
Partner with Clinical Manager and Compounding Services Manager to maintain QOPI certification.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Â

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
-
2 or more years of adult med-surg based general or specialty care nursing.

Evidence of annual completion of health-related courses and/or seminars with a certificate and/or CEU’s

1 or more years of leadership experience within nursing role or outside of RN role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BSN prepared.
-
Oncology experience is a plus.
-
Ambulatory Oncology Clinic experience is a plus.
-
OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) is a plus.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.          Â
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids, and other waste common to a health care environment. Work may require occasional irregular day shift hours.
