We are seeking a professional and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pre-Op/PACU team. This role plays an essential part in ensuring quality care and a positive experience for our surgical patients. Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Pre-operative assessment and preparation of patients, including taking vital signs, reviewing medical history, and educating patients on the surgical process and post-operative care
  • Providing post-anesthesia care, including monitoring vital signs, assessing pain levels, and administering medications as needed
  • Providing emotional support and education to patients and families during the recovery process
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of patient care, including charting and reporting as required
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement projects to continually refine processes and provide the best possible care
  • Provide safe, high-quality nursing care before and after surgical procedures
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and team members
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold clinical protocols
  • Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and privacy standards

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Active RN license in the state of Maryland
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
  • BLS certification (ACLS preferred or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Professional, team-oriented, and patient-focused

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and act as a patient advocate.
  • Ability to delegate tasks as appropriate according to the state Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions.
  • Basic computer skills (eg, Microsoft® Word).
  • Uses problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members.
  • Maintains required competencies.
  • Adhering to principles of Universal Precautions
  • Exhibits favorable bedside manner including listening and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current registered nurse licensure in state of employment.
  • Two years perioperative services experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, depending on patient population.
