SUMMARY: Responsible for supervising all accounting operational functions of CHHS. Manages the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of business results. Enforces organizational and department policies and standards. Ensures all accounting personnel are properly trained according to their primary position. Interacts with senior management in order to provide leadership with skills and information vital to the decision-making process. Prepares all department employee evaluations. Provide strategic support to Chief Financial Officer. Reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Unless otherwise noted, each essential function applies to the operations of Community Hospice & Health Services and its affiliates.
- Plans, directs, coordinates, and implements all accounting operational functions including offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes. Maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and governing regulatory protocol.
- Coordinates and oversees preparation of internal and external financial statements.
- Hiring, training and retaining competent accounting and finance staff. Supervises department staff including preparation and review of annual employee evaluations.
- Supports each organization and the Finance Department in a primary leadership role as a resource for supervisory, technical, procedural, and financial matters.
- Compiling, coordinating and assisting with the annual budget in conjunction with senior management.
- Responsible for all general reporting including but not limited to Welfare Exemptions, Business Property Statements, quality assessment and performance improvement studies, and FTE Reports.
- Responsible for all Fixed Asset Inventory Schedules and related FAS software work.
- Coordinating activities of external financial auditors.
- Evaluating accounting and internal control systems.
- Serves on the management teams of CHHS.
- Maintains technical competency through approved continuing education.
- Follows all organizational policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, infection control, privacy and confidentiality, and HIPAA.
- Participates in other duties assigned.
- Observes all safety requirements as outlined in the Injury and Illness policy.
- Maintains a professional appearance of self and working area. Exhibits courteous, thoughtful and appropriate behavior with fellow employees, visitors, and the public at all times.
