SUMMARY
The CMM Operator (Quality Technician) is responsible for verifying the conformance of manufactured and assembled parts using coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and other precision inspection tools. This role ensures products meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. The position involves interpreting complex technical drawings and models, generating inspection reports, assisting in root cause investigations, and effectively communicating with internal teams and external auditors or customers as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Interpret engineering requirements using 2D drawings, Catia, and other 3D models to determine part conformance.
- Operate CMM and other digital and manual inspection equipment to inspect parts and assemblies.
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections; complete First Article Inspections (FAI) and related documentation.
- Inspect parts to ensure compliance with appearance, function, tolerances, dimensions, and specifications.
- Generate and maintain accurate inspection reports and quality documentation.
- Support Quality Engineers in Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and provide feedback to Engineering on design or process issues.
- Interpret and conform to new model engineering changes, providing feedback as required.
- Communicate with FAA representatives, external auditors, and customers when necessary.
- Assist with internal audits and compliance to quality procedures and standards.
- Maintain certifications or qualifications appropriate to assigned inspection areas.
