Reinhardt University is currently accepting applications for a Controller for the Business Office.
Position Summary:
Working with minimal direction and with written policies & procedures, stated objectives and goals, this position is accountable for maintaining a financially stable environment built on integrity and fiduciary accountability. Building a team environment, effectively plan and implement achievable goals and objectives. Demonstrate values and behaviors of a team player through daily interactions, developing and maintaining excellent relationships inside and outside the Reinhardt community. Judiciously manage and report on budgeting, forecasts and investment activities. Actively participate in appropriate committees, and keeping up-to-date on associated administrative duties and advances in technologies to implement continuous improvement to processes and systems.
The Controller role is an integral component in the success of the Finance and Administration Department. Therefore, attendance for this position is generally required at 40 hours per week, usually during normal business hours 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. As determined by project deadlines and seasonal workload, this position may occasionally require overtime and travel.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Finance and/or Accounting, MBA preferred;
- CPA required, will consider candidate pursuing CPA;
- Higher Education and/or Not-for-profit experience preferred;
- 8-10 years of financial work experience;
- Knowledge of GAAP;
- Computer literate, including word processing, spreadsheets, graphic presentations and internet applications;
- Demonstrated knowledge of finance and budget management policies and procedures;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills;
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
- Provide consistent, high quality financial management of university assets through on-going analysis, review and preparation of accurate financials, budgets and investment reporting. Work closely with the University’s Chief Financial Officer, accounting staff, staff members, and auditors;
- Maintain accurate and timely administrative records;
- Oversee all University budgets in a manner that allows for financial audits and timely reporting;
- Continue to build knowledge and awareness of developments in the finance area to help the Department improve efficiency and effectiveness;
- Manage day-to-day investment transactions;
- Thoroughly review quarterly reports provided by financial managers on investments and prepare unitized endowment reports;
- Provide thorough and periodic review of financial accounts and provide recommendations to staff on changes necessary to remain within budget;
- Provide Administrators with timely and accurate projections throughout the year for planning purposes;
- Effectively manage the budgeting process by providing adequate communication of needs, easy-to-use forms, reasonable deadlines, and timely feedback;
- Actively participate in appropriate committees and special projects to assist in the creation, development, and/or updating of university programs;
- Work with Administrators, staff, faculty, students, alumni and Board members;
- Provide knowledge and expertise;
- Promote and instill the image and values of Reinhardt University in future offerings;
- As appropriate, this position may be required to perform other functions associated with the day-to-day operations of the University as assigned by his/her supervisor;
- Supervise payroll processing and reporting

- Demonstrated project management skills including the ability to organize, plan, analyze, develop and adhere to budgets, and meet deadlines;
- Demonstrated success at hiring, training, motivating and retaining a team of skilled workers;
- Excellent working knowledge of financial procedures and practices;
- Ability to perform complex calculations, financial forecasts, expertly manage budgets and invested funds;
- Demonstrated computer proficiency, especially in the use of word processing and spreadsheet applications;
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work assignments, manages time, handle multiple tasks and perform long- and short-term planning;
- Ability to analyze situations and solve problems;
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts in a fair, equitable, and customer-friendly manner;
- Demonstrated ability to persuade and influence staff / faculty to consider options and alternatives in resolving situations involving finance and budget issues;
- Physical ability to complete work assignments that may involve occasionally lifting 10 pounds;
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle;
Work Environment/Physical Requirements of the Job:
This position is located within a general office environment. The candidate must have the ability to walk between buildings on campus, occasionally lift up to twenty pounds, and be able to work sitting down for long periods of time.
