Food Service Worker

Job Purpose: 

The Food Service Worker provides a variety of basic kitchen and cafeteria duties to support nutritional services. This position prepares meals, cooks meals, serves food, prepares patient trays and ensures safe food handling practices under the supervision of a team leader. The Food Service Worker provides the nourishment needed by staff, patients and visitors to meet the physical, emotional and biological needs to support health and well-being.

 

Work Schedule:

Saturdays:  8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 

Sundays:    8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver food trays to patients and other duties within the principles of safe food handling as per HACCP guidelines

  • Pours and delivers formula, snacks and other nutritional items

  • Assist with various processes related to the overall success of the Nutrition Department

  • Receives grocery and produce orders, as well as, properly storing all items in compliance with regulatory standards

  • Ensure the cleanliness and sanitization of dishes, tableware, glassware, pots, pans and utensils through manual and machine cleaning methods

  • Attend and participate in all mandatory “in-service” and staff meetings

  • Keeps accurate and detailed records related to assigned duties

  • Works as a cohesive team member and communicates openly with team and healthcare professionals

  • Cashier 

  • Clean the dining room and tables

  • Restock all grab and go items

  • Input sales tickets from overnight

  • Assist in making grab and go items

  • Assist with dishes 

  • Long-term can make hot food items for weekend staff

  • Back up to food prep, formula, and server positions.

 

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Ability to speak, understand, read and write English required, Food preparation or related work experience desirable

 

Base Pay & Shift Differentials:

Food Service Worker positions begin at $15.53 per hour and go up based on education and experience.

Bethany Children's Health Center also offers shift differentials for working evening, nights or weekend hours. If you were to work those time frames, that amount would be added to your hourly base rate each hour. Approved rates are as follows:

  • Weekdays - 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m: +$1.25/hour

  • Weekdays - 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m: +$1.25/hour

  • Weekends - 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m: +$1.50/hour

  • Weekends - 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m: +$2.75/hour

  • Weekends - 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m: +$3.00/hour
