The Jr. Systems Administrator is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day management, maintenance, and support of computer systems. The Jr. Systems Administrator works under the guidance of senior systems administrators to ensure the smooth operation of hardware, software, and network components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • User Support: Provide technical assistance and support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues.  Respond to user inquiries and resolve problems in a timely manner.  Assist with user account management, password resets, and access permissions.
  • System Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation.  Perform routine maintenance tasks such as system updates, patches, and backups.  Proactively identify potential issues and take corrective actions to prevent downtime.
  • System Deployment and Upgrades: Assist in the deployment of new systems, including hardware installation and software configuration.  Support system upgrades and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to TDS associates.  Collaborate with senior administrators to plan and execute system projects.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.  Generate reports on system performance, incident resolution, and user support metrics.  Contribute to the development and improvement of IT policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE & REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of computer systems, networks, and operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.).
  • Familiarity with network protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum years of work experience: 2 years in Information Technology sector experience or 
    equivalent
  • Minimum level of education or education/experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a computer-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology).
