US Heart and Vascular is in need of a Lead Medical Assistant to join our team at Heartland Cardiology in Wichita, KS.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and direct outpatients, visitors, and families in a pleasant and caring manner to waiting areas, exam rooms and ancillary departments.
- Perform venipuncture (if trained) and finger sticks on lab patients for processing.
- Assist with scheduling of TeleMed or Doxyme appointments and provide patient instruction.
- Assist Clinic physician and/or physician’s staff with any procedures (i.e., vital signs, weight, positioning, disrobing, etc.).
- Review current medications with patients and document in computer.
- Communicate any physician delays to patient and monitor patient until physician enters exam room.
- Perform EKG on patients as ordered by physician.
- Obtain and document patient information as per clinic physician’s protocol.
- Know incoming physician schedules to organize appointments and issue appropriate memos regarding incoming physician visits.
- Keep clinic staff informed of pertinent information regarding patients.
- Clean the exam room after each patient and sanitize exam room at the end of each day.
- Make referrals for providers as requested, with help and guidance from the provider’s nurse. Provide proper documentation of referrals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.
- 1-year medical office experience required
- 1 year of phlebotomy experience preferred but not required
- BLS certification required within 1 month of hire
