Summary:
The Associate Estimating Engineer supports the preparation of cost estimates and technical evaluations for aerospace manufacturing parts and projects. This role assists in analyzing engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to develop accurate labor, material, and process cost estimates. The Associate Estimating Engineer works closely with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure proposals are technically sound, competitive, and compliant with customer and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Review engineering drawings, models, and specifications to determine manufacturing processes, materials, and labor requirements.
- Assist in developing detailed cost estimates for new parts, assemblies, and engineering changes.
- Gather and analyze data on material costs, labor rates, equipment usage, and subcontracted services.
- Collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain personnel to validate assumptions and ensure accurate cost modeling.
- Prepare cost summaries and supporting documentation for quotation and proposal submissions.
- Assist in developing process routing and time standards based on industry benchmarks and internal capabilities.
- Support the evaluation of make versus buy decisions and subcontractor quotations.
- Maintain historical cost databases and update standard estimating tools as needed.
- Participate in cost review meetings and provide input to management on pricing strategy and cost drivers.
- Ensure all estimating activities comply with company policies, AS9100 standards, and customer contractual requirements.
- Update quoting log as necessary.
