School-Based Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Constellation is looking to add a School-Based Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to our team who will be responsible for the treatment of referred clients in school-based settings. A Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) may receive referrals from the school and other duties may include direct consultation services, supervision of support staff and clinically related administrative tasks. The School-Based Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) supports the philosophy, goals and culture of Constellation Health Services.

 

Job Duties:

  • Plans and implements intervention strategies using direct therapy, monitoring and consultation.
  • Carries out screenings of children and determines appropriate recommendations
  • Participates in the IEP process, engages in consensual decision making with school team.
  • Communicates effectively (orally and in writing) with education personnel, administrators, parents and community members.
  • Provides accurate documentation of intervention, goals and objectives
  • Facilitates transition among agencies, programs, and professionals as service provision changes (early intervention to pre-school, pre-school to school etc.)
  • May supervise Level I/ Level II field work students.
  • Identifies emergency situations and determines appropriate action to ensure child safety.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an APT accredited curriculum with a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Must be registered by the American Physical Therapy Certification Board and hold a Connecticut State License to practice Physical Therapy.
  • Candidates eligible for licensure will be considered.
  • Field work in pediatric setting preferred.
