BASIC FUNCTION
Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all academic, general education, career-technical, and developmental programs across Helms College campuses and online platforms, driving innovation in curriculum and instruction, ensuring continuous improvement, and advancing academic excellence that supports enrollment growth, student retention, and alignment with institutional and accreditation standards.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Provide visionary academic leadership to drive innovation and institutional advancement in programming that supports student success and institutional growth.

· Direct the daily operations and performance of academic administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure instructional excellence across all divisions.

· Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of curriculum that meets accreditation standards and aligns with workforce and institutional priorities.

· Build and maintain strategic partnerships with schools, colleges, and community organizations to strengthen enrollment pipelines and expand program articulation.

· Oversee the creation and accuracy of class schedules across campuses and modalities to ensure compliance, operational efficiency, and a student-centered course offering.

· Champion initiatives that enhance student learning outcomes, retention, and completion rates through data informed academic strategies and faculty collaboration.

· Manage academic department budgets in alignment with strategic goals, ensuring responsible resource allocation and fiscal stewardship.

· Advance academic excellence by leading initiatives to integrate emerging technologies, instructional innovations, and industry-aligned practices across programs.

· Serve as a key institutional academic leader in accreditation, licensure, and regulatory compliance efforts, ensuring Helms College exceeds required academic standards.

· Collaborate with faculty to foster a culture of teaching excellence through instructional coaching, performance evaluation, and professional development.

· Strengthen student academic support systems by working with Student Services to expand tutoring, advising, and early alert initiatives.
Â
· Recruit and onboard high-performing academic personnel in collaboration with Talent Acquisition and provide continuous development opportunities to retain instructional talent.

· Support the development of grant proposals to secure funding for academic initiatives that expand access and improve program offerings.
Â
· Represent Academic Affairs at institutional planning meetings, community engagements, and ceremonial events to promote the mission and vision of Helms College.
Â
· Promote interdisciplinary and experiential learning models that respond to regional workforce demands and support applied learning environments.
Â
· Partner with operations teams to ensure effective utilization of instructional spaces and facilities that support engaging and efficient learning experiences.
Â
· Identify and support at risk students in coordination with faculty and student services to ensure equity in retention and academic performance.
Â
· Actively participate in college wide events, including graduation, open houses, and community forums, representing the academic mission of the institution.
