Job Summary: To assume administrative responsibility for activities throughout the hospital on shifts when administration is not present, such as evening, night, weekend or holiday shifts. House Supervisors have shift responsibility for all administrative and operational functions regarding the provision of patient care for all departments; collaborating with Department Directors as a resource for problem solving. Demonstrates leadership abilities, including principles of conflict management and communication effectiveness.
The House Supervisor functions as the administrative designee to employees, medical staff, and the community while ensuring that all care meets regulatory and professional requirements.
The House Supervisor must be knowledgeable regarding Hospital policies, procedures and standards to effectively manage and coordinate Hospital operations and emergency protocols and plans.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrate knowledge regarding Hospital policies, procedures and standards to effectively manage and coordinate Hospital operations and activity.
2. Assume total responsibility for supervision of overall hospital activities relating to patient care.
3. Provide leadership and autonomy in the professional practice setting and the profession.
4. Support patient’s rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural and religious diversity.
5. Demonstrate knowledge and skill necessary to assure age appropriate care of pediatrics, adults, and geriatric populations.
6. Assure implementation of standard precautions and infection control standards.
7. Demonstrate advanced leadership skills.
