The Senior Director of School Age Programs is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the school-age programs at the Community Group, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained. This role demands a deep understanding of school-age education principles, curriculum development, staff management, and program administration. The Senior Director plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational and developmental experiences of children, combining educational expertise, leadership, and a commitment to creating a nurturing, enriching environment during their formative years.

 

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

Leadership and Management:

  • Develop and implement high-quality enrichment programs that align with educational standards and best practices.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Lead, supervise and coach the Director of Program Quality and Grant Management, School Age Program Managers (2), Operations Manager and Office Manager on the daily operations of EEC licensed programs. Recruit and hire for these positions as needed.
  • Support the Director of Program Quality and Grant Management and School Age Program Managers (2) in hiring, training and performance management.
  • Work with the Chief of Program Supports to develop systems to track and execute grant requirements across all program sites.
  • Train and coach the Director of Program Quality and Grant Management and School Age Program Managers (2) in relation to classroom quality and curriculum and instruction. 
  • Work closely with members of the TCG Operations, Finance, Development and HR teams (the “Business Office”) to sustain successful program structure.
  • Act as the primary liaison between school-age programs and the Methuen and Lawrence Public School districts, facilitating effective communication, collaboration, and coordination to ensure program success and alignment with district objectives.
  • Arrange or provide coverage for programs as needed to maintain compliance.  
  • Oversee CKP and 21st century budget in collaboration with finance and development.

 

Coaching/Curriculum/Professional Development:

  • Develop, coordinate and support professional development training as needed and in collaboration with the Director of Program Quality and Grant Management, School Age Program Managers (2) and Manager of Operations.
  • Review and organize lesson-planning systems for school year and summer curriculum to ensure that groups can adequately and equally plan for weekly activities.
  • Train the Director of Program Quality and Grant Management and Program Managers to effectively coach site-based staff on all program initiatives and other areas for development.
  • With the support of the Director of Program Quality and Grant Management and School Age Program Managers (2), coordinate special guest visits and culminating activities for the various themes explored throughout the year.
  • Support School Age Program Managers (2) with systems and processes.

 

Quality Assurance: 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with partner school leaders.
  • Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to licensed child care.
  • Stay informed about DESE 21st Century grant requirements and quality standards for new, continuing, and exemplary 21st Century sites; 
  • Conduct regular, formal and informal program observations.
  • Assist the Director of Program Quality and Grant Management and Program Managers  to assess data and documentation as needed to identify areas of needed change/improvement.
  • Oversee and ensure implementation of strategies that promote program growth and retention of children and families.
  • Establish a system and monitor program quality standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, 21st Century quality standards, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with community organizations, agencies, and stakeholders to enhance program offerings and resources.

Family Engagement/Support:

  • Build positive relationships with parents and caregivers, fostering open communication and involvement in their child's education.
  • Attend to family concerns, working in collaboration for mutual resolutions/agreements.  
  • Partner with Director of Family Supports on interventions and referrals for children.
  • Develop outreach that supports positive parent relationships; 
  • Support with coordinating family related events/initiatives. 

Other:

  • May assist with additional duties as needed, based on the size and demands of the programs.

Qualifications

  • Previous management experience preferred
  • Familiarity with EEC regulations
  • Preferred familiarity with 21st Century grant programming
  • Highly organized and capable of managing several simultaneous workflows
  • Willingness to hold self and others accountable to outcomes

  • Proficient using technology
  • Relevant experience and degree required
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus

 

Requirements:

  • Must possess the qualifications required for their positions in accordance with EEC regulations;
  • Must complete CORI, SORI and fingerprint scan in accordance with regulations set forth by the Department of Early Education and Care prior to employment;
  • Evidence of physical examination within one year prior to employment;
  • Evidence of immunizations against Measles, Mumps and Rubella; and
  • Maintain current infant/child CPR and First Aid Certification.
