Job description
Responsibilities :
- Responsible for meeting with all clients to assess readiness for preparing for part-time or full-time employment.
- Meets regularly in case conference with other staff members to discuss each client’s readiness for employment and continuing needs after employment.
- Performs assessments utilizing standardized instruments to measure interests and skills related to employment.
- Facilitates vocational rehabilitation groups to discuss job search skills such as interviewing, resume writing, completing applications, appropriate dress, grooming and hygiene and retention of benefits while working part-time.
- Responsible for canvassing the San Fernando Valley for employment sites, particularly those accessible by public transportation, and developing relationships with potential employers.
- Responsible for providing on-site job coaching for employed clients as well as at the Hillview Treatment Center.
- Responsible for maintaining telephone and on-site relationships with employers and supervisors to assist them in being supportive of employed clients.
- Maintains ongoing relationships with the Department of Rehabilitation to obtain services and information for clients, when appropriate.
- Communicates regularly with employed clients’ treatment staff regarding their employment status to obtain additional support for the client as needed.
- Attends all Department of Mental Health Employment Specialist meetings and communicates the information to the program director and the team.
- Keeps current with new information in the field of employment for mental health clients.
Hours:
- Monday through Friday (40 hours)
- Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
- Meal Period: 30 minutes

Required Education:
- Associates Degree, Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in the human services field, recruiting field or related field. Prior experience working with mentally ill adults preferred.
Required Skills:
- Comfortable working with a diverse clinical population, including clients with severe and persistent mental disabilities.
- Compassion for clients, ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, demonstrate sound judgement, give attention to detail, be flexible, self-driven and motivated.
- Must have basic computer data entry skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
