Job Title: Controller or Financial Controller
Location: On-Site, Orem, Utah

Exempt: $135,000 – $150,000 (based on experience)

Position Overview:

We are seeking an accomplished and proven Controller to direct and manage our accounting operations. This role is responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of all financial activities, including reporting, budgeting, compliance, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, deep expertise in QuickBooks Desktop, NetSuite, and a proven track record of leading accounting functions in fast-paced, high-growth environments. Experience in e-commerce, wholesale, and retail is highly desirable.


As Controller, you will serve as an accounting leader within the organization, reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, and will play a critical role in enforcing internal controls and supporting cross-functional business decisions.



Key Responsibilities:


Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the accounting function and oversee all day-to-day and strategic financial operations.
  • Own the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Partner with CFO and executive leadership to provide financial insights that drive strategic decisions and operational efficiency.
  • Manage all external relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies, ensuring full compliance and successful annual audits.
  • Assistance and analysis for insurance renewals.
  • Provide leadership in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.

Accounting Operations Oversight

  • Direct all aspects of accounting operations, including:
    • Accounts payable and receivable
    • General ledger management and journal entries
    • Payroll accounting and accruals
    • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions across multiple e-commerce and retail platforms (e.g., Shopify, Amazon, wholesale channels).
  • Maintain a streamlined, scalable chart of accounts to support business growth and clear reporting.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including COGS tracking, margin analysis, and valuation methodology.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, including sales, use, and income tax filings.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing accounting team.
  • Set goals, provide regular performance feedback, and create development plans to support staff growth.
  • Allocate responsibilities effectively and ensure all accounting deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
  • Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert on complex accounting issues, supporting and guiding staff in resolving them.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Deliver accurate and insightful financial reporting, including P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and key metrics.
  • Perform variance and trend analysis to identify performance drivers and support data-informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, sales, and marketing to align financial performance with business strategy.

Process Improvement & Systems Management

  • Optimize the use of financial systems for accuracy, automation, and reporting efficiency.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline workflows and eliminate manual processes.
  • Evaluate and integrate accounting tools and technologies to support business scale and complexity.
  • Assisting with NetSuite implementation.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA strongly preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Advanced QuickBooks Desktop expertise required.
  • NetSuite experience required.
  • Strong background in e-commerce, retail, and wholesale accounting operations.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, inventory costing, and revenue recognition.
  • Proven success managing audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and experienced in working with data across multiple systems/platforms.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a hands-on approach.
