The Technical Writer, Process Governance Specialist plays a vital role in managing the organization's technical documentation, ensuring high-quality content standards, and establishing robust governance frameworks for process consistency and data readiness. This position will focus on the creation, curation, and governance of internal knowledge assets, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), process guides, AI-generated documents, and supporting training content. The Technical Writer, Process Governance Specialist will lead documentation standards, coordinate process reviews with subject matter experts, and ensure datasets are appropriately prepared for AI ingestion and retrieval. The role requires strong prompt engineering skills, attention to detail, and the ability to influence knowledge-sharing culture across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, edit, and manage clear and structured technical documentation, SOPs, how-to guides, and knowledge base articles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex technical and process content into accessible documentation.
- Develop and maintain prompt libraries for generative AI tools used to streamline and support internal documentation workflows.
- Perform data cleansing and formatting tasks to ensure documentation and datasets are ready for AI ingestion and compliance use.
- Manage documentation lifecycle and version control, ensuring accuracy and currency across all repositories.
- Support content audits and governance reviews to identify gaps, redundancies, and outdated information.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Governance
- Establish and uphold standards for documentation formats, naming conventions, versioning, and metadata.
- Participate in or lead governance councils to review, approve, and monitor process changes and documentation impacts.
- Design and implement content governance workflows that promote consistency, accessibility, and data quality across systems.
- Conduct periodic audits to assess documentation compliance and knowledge hygiene within shared platforms.
Training Documentation & Enablement
- Create structured reference guides, onboarding documentation, and system walkthroughs to support user enablement.
- Coordinate with functional leads to ensure training materials align with current processes and systems.
- Maintain an organized library of learning assets and job aids that are easily searchable and up to date.
- Incorporate user feedback into iterative updates to improve clarity, usefulness, and adoption of materials.
