Position Overview:
As a pivotal member of the sales team, the Business Development Representative is responsible for identifying, engaging, and converting new or underperforming accounts into revenue-generating customers. Acting as an ambassador of Kennicott, the BDR focuses on customer acquisition and reactivation.
This role is salaried and does not involve day-to-day order fulfillment, which is handled by the Operations team. Once an account reaches a designated performance threshold, ownership transitions to the Key Account Manager (KAM).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead Generation & Prospecting:
- Qualify leads from marketing campaigns as sales opportunities.
- Proactively seek new business through cold calls, emails, and referrals.
- Participate in trade shows and industry expos to generate new business.
2. Account Development:Â
- Identify customer needs and tailor solutions accordingly.
- Customize presentations and proposals in collaboration with Marketing.
- Build trust and establish long-term relationships during onboarding and ramp-up.
3. Customer Engagement:
- Set up meetings between prospects and internal stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary contact during the early stage of account activation.
- Conduct in-person customer visits to validate sales potential, assess fit, and build early-stage rapport prior to account handoff.Â
- Ensure a warm handoff to the KAM once account performance is consistent.
4. Internal Collaboration:
- Liaise with Central Purchasing, Ecommerce, and Marketing.
- Coordinate on product availability, pricing, and promotions.
5. Reporting:
- Â Track lead conversion, account progress, and report results weekly/monthly.
