Director, Warren Library

SUMMARY

In support of the university’s mission and objectives, the Director of the Warren Library reports to the Vice Provost of Academic Affairs. The Director collaborates with the university community in positioning the Warren Library for ongoing excellence in supporting student success, enabling faculty and student research, and serving as a central nexus of the campus. 

Strategic Leadership and Academic Support

  • Provides vision and leadership for the library in support of the University's mission and goals. 
  • Develop an effective and collaborative leadership team within the library. 
  • Collaborates with the university’s academic and student leadership to strengthen and expand opportunities to address student and faculty needs.
  • Maintains expertise in research techniques and be active in local and national library professional organizations.

Library Services and Accessibility

  • Plans, develops, and delivers excellent library services that are accessible to all undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and the greater PBA community. 

Assessment and Improvement

  • Establishes a process of review, assessment, and improvement of library programs, resources, and services.  

Operations and Budget Management

  • Manages the library's operations and budget with a focus on ongoing improvements in the context of the dynamic growth of the University with the library being a central nexus of the campus. 
  • Serves on university committees and task forces and attends faculty and university functions as an ambassador of the Library.

Grant Writing and Advancement

  • Engages with the Office of the Provost and Advancement to write and receive appropriate library grants and help with advancement activities related to the library. 

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION:

Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA Accredited Program required; Ph.D., preferred, or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE:

7+ year’s progressively responsible professional librarian and managerial experience, within a college or university library.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work non-routine hours during certain times of the year.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
